PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan does not agree to holding state elections in Johor because it fears another defeat, said Umno Supreme Council member Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

In a Facebook post, he said PH lost both the Melaka and Sarawak elections held recently and “they are now worried about losing in Johor, too”.

Barisan Nasional holds a one-seat majority in the Johor state assembly after the death of Kempas assemblyman Osman Sapian on Dec 21.

Shamsul, who is also the Lenggong MP, said whatever the situation, his party would focus on resolving the current flood crisis affecting the people.

In a joint statement yesterday, Johor PH leaders Aminolhuda Hassan (Amanah), Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PKR) and Liew Chin Tong (DAP) said they were opposed to any power struggle, and were committed to easing the burden of the people affected by the floods.

They said all efforts and funds should be channelled towards helping the people.
