PETALING JAYA: Shahidan Kassim has been hauled up by the Umno disciplinary board following allegations of him violating party discipline and etiquette.

Shahidan, who is Arau Umno division chief, arrived at the party headquarters, Menara Datuk Onn, in Kuala Lumpur at about 2.45pm today to meet with the board, according to Sinar Harian.

Trouble had been brewing for Shahidan, who is Arau MP and federal territories minister, when he called for Umno to form an alliance with other Malay-based parties.

Arau Umno Youth had earlier called for action to be taken against Shahidan, claiming that the stance he took was against the party’s decision to not work with Bersatu. Its chief, Syed Atif Syed Abu Bakar, had sent a complaint letter to party secretary-general Ahmad Maslan over the alleged breach of party discipline.

According to Sinar Harian, Shahidan had allowed the display of the Bersatu flag along with the Umno flag at the launch of the division meeting.
