PETALING JAYA: A political analyst predicts that opposition parties in Sarawak will collectively win 30 to 33 of the 82 seats in the Dec 18 Sarawak elections.

James Chin of the University of Tasmania said Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PBS) may win 16, DAP 12, PKR three and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) two.

He said DAP is the strongest opposition party in Pakatan Harapan (PH), with a better election machinery and resources.

“The party already knew which seats they wanted to contest back in 2019. They also have a clear, strong leader in Chong Chieng Jen, although he is seen by some as arrogant and does not listen to his colleagues,” he said during a webinar organised by Singapore-based ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute today.
