MIRI: The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) admits that the fight for urban seats, especially those with Chinese-majority voters, will see stiff competition in the 12th Sarawak state elections.
Its secretary-general, Sebastian Ting, said among the constituencies that will see fierce contests were Pujut, Senadin, Piasau, Batu Kawah, Kota Sentosa, Padungan, Batu Kitang, Pending and Batu Lintang.
“Across Sarawak, all constituencies with a majority of Chinese voters are expected to face strong competition.
“This includes all 18 seats contested by SUPP,” he told reporters after launching the Sepakat@Komuniti programme organised by the information department here today.
Sebastian said politics was unpredictable but all candidates from SUPP would continue to serve the people, in line with the main objective of the party since it was established in 1959.
