KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS said today it has no plans to leave Muafakat Nasional – its alliance with Umno – despite locking horns with the party in the upcoming Melaka state election.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Muafakat Nasional (MN) had a bigger agenda to unite Malays and Muslims as a whole, and the party would not quit MN unless it was dissolved.

“We hope that Muafakat Nasional can go back to its original intention, which is to unite the ummah. We also want to bring more non-governmental organisations back to MN,” he said at a press conference at the end of the PAS muktamar here today.

Tuan Ibrahim dismissed a claim by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah that MN was already “buried”, saying the Umno veteran was “not involved in MN”.
