Najib sues Thomas, govt over ‘malicious prosecution’

KUALA LUMPUR: Najib Razak has filed a lawsuit against former attorney-general Tommy Thomas and the government for alleged misfeasance in public office by pressing 1MDB related charges against him.

The former prime minister claimed that the charges filed against him during Thomas’ tenure were “part of a long-planned, premeditated exercise”.

“This was also in line with the then (Pakatan Harapan) government’s plan.

“As an AG, he (Thomas) carried out his duties, at least in relation to the plaintiff (Najib), as if he was a ‘PH agent’,” Najib said in his statement of claim sighted by FMT. The suit was filed earlier this week.
