Give priority to merit for top posts, not political links, says Cuepacs

KOTA KINABALU: Cuepacs says the new government must appoint chief secretaries or senior government officials based on their merit instead of favouritism.

Its president, Adnan Mat, said these appointments must be made based on qualifications and capability, adding that the selection should not be influenced by political factors or favouritism by ministers.

“This is vital to ensure the government machinery led by the prime minister and his Cabinet can be assisted by government officers who possess the right calibre, integrity and capability.

“Only this can subsequently ensure successful delivery of all of the government’s programmes,” he said in a statement today.
