PETALING JAYA: Muhyiddin Yassin has resigned as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia after immense pressure by Umno and other opposition parties demanding that he do so.

His resignation meant a proposed vote of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat in September is now moot and brings to an end the shortest tenure of a prime minister in Malaysia’s history.
