Despite 15 MPs ‘stolen’ from party, we still supported Perikatan says Umno’s Johari Ghani

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — Umno Supreme Council Member Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said those who had criticised the party for its “tug of war” attitude which supposedly led to an unstable Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration should instead practice self-reflection.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia’s Sunday edition, Johari then reminded critics that even when 15 out of 54 Umno MPs were “stolen” by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) the party still decided to support the PN government.

Johari then explained that Umno did not fully agree to the formation of PN when other parties decided to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister in March 2020.

“Six months after that, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had formed PN, Umno did not agree but Umno never opposed it. In fact, at the time, we were under Muafakat Nasional with PAS, we were not angry when PAS entered PN.
