KUALA LUMPUR: After submitting a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the government’s “failure” to manage the pandemic, a coalition of NGOs has urged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet to resign by Friday.

Gabungan Bertindak Memorandum Rakyat Malaysia (GBMRM) coordinator Mustafa Mansor felt that allowing Perikatan Nasional to continue governing the country would cause the situation to worsen.

He also urged Malaysians to wave a white flag and dress in white in solidarity with those who lost their lives to Covid-19, if Muhyiddin fails to step down by Friday.

“It’s time for this illegitimate government to step down respectfully. It isn’t just political parties who are calling for their resignation, but NGOs and the people.

“We have given Muhyiddin’s government ample time and chances. It has come to a point where if we give them another chance, it would cause greater harm,” he told reporters after submitting the memorandum to Istana Negara here today.
