GEORGE TOWN: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today denied that his party would support Muhyiddin Yassin in a confidence vote following an Umno leader’s claim it would back the prime minister in the coming Parliament meeting.
Lim said his party and “the whole of the opposition” have called for Muhyiddin to resign as he has lost the majority support, following Umno’s decision to formally retract its support for him.
Earlier today, Umno Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the Perikatan Nasional-led (PN) government would rely on support from opposition parties, especially DAP, since Umno has stopped backing Muhyiddin.
Sinar Harian, which quoted Tajuddin, also quoted a source claiming that a confidence and supply agreement (CSA) was being negotiated between DAP and PN.
Describing Tajuddin’s claim as a lie, Lim told him to show proof of the alleged cooperation with Muhyiddin. “let alone any CSA agreement”.
“As usual, Tajuddin is talking without facts, lying through his teeth. Another piece of fake news. I have never met the prime minister since he took office,” the former finance minister told FMT.
