PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has demanded that Muhyiddin Yassin resign after losing his parliamentary majority, following Umno’s retraction of support for the prime minister.

Responding to Attorney-General Idrus Harun’s statement earlier, the PH presidential council said Muhyiddin was appointed last year based on the support of the political party leaders backing him.

“Hence, when the leader of the major party (backing him) announces withdrawal of support, then the prime minister would have lost the party’s backing and the majority support of MPs.

“Clearly the attorney-general is acting more like a Perikatan Nasional politician instead of defending the supremacy of the law,” the council said in a statement today.

Earlier today, Idrus said Muhyiddin remained the prime minister until his parliamentary majority was tested in the Dewan Rakyat, adding that there was no substantial evidence that proved he had lost the majority support of MPs.
