PETALING JAYA: Umno and Barisan Nasional MPs who continue to support Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin despite the Supreme Council’s decision last night will face the consequences for not toeing the line, former prime minister Najib Razak said.

In a Facebook post, Najib said MPs who defied the party’s position would have to answer to the people come election time.

His post comes after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced yesterday that the party had withdrawn its support for Muhyiddin as the prime minister, calling for his resignation.

“We have reached July 2021, less than two years from the 15th general election. When that time comes, it is the people who will choose who will head the government and their members of Parliament, and they won’t choose frogs or traitors.

“Citizens can judge who, and which party, is more qualified, more competent, more honest and has a better track record of restoring, rescuing and developing the economy and the country after the pandemic.”
