PETALING JAYA: The royal call for Parliament to reconvene means it must be held as quickly as the law allows, not on a date the prime minister or other politicians find suitable, says Rafidah Aziz.
The former international trade and industry minister said those who understood laws and regulations relating to parliamentary sessions would be able to accurately determine the earliest date possible for the next sitting.
“People don’t want to hear any excuses or expected (dates) any more,” she said in a statement. “The rules cannot be sidelined.”
She added that Parliament was already equipped with plastic screens and that all MPs were required to wear face masks as well as follow all the SOPs. All MPs have already been vaccinated.
Rafidah said there were various issues that need to be addressed, including the billions of ringgit that have been spent and the effects, proposals to increase the debt ceiling and the national recovery plan.
She noted that the people were still facing difficulties because the government’s actions and its stimulus packages have not brought the desired results.
