Do patterns really matter on CS2 skins like Case Hardened?
#1
I’ve seen people say that certain skins are “blue gems” or have “rare patterns.” How much does the pattern affect the price? Is there a way to check it before buying?

Yes, patterns can significantly increase or decrease the value of certain skins. On Case Hardened skins, for example, full-blue patterns (called Blue Gems) can sell for thousands more than standard versions. The best resource I found to understand this is https://dmarket.com/cs2-wiki/. It explains how pattern IDs work, how to find them, and what the community considers rare or valuable. They also cover Doppler phases and fade percentages, which influence knife pricing. Most marketplaces don't display pattern info directly, so checking it manually through float inspection tools is important. Knowing pattern tiers can save you from overpaying or help you spot a hidden gem.

Thanks for sharing this, seriously helpful! I’ve always been confused about why two identical skins have such different prices, and this clears it up. I didn’t know Blue Gems had such a massive price gap. Also appreciate the tip on checking patterns manually — going to start using cs2 wiki for sure now.
