PETALING JAYA: Khairy Jamaluddin dropped a broad hint today that Cabinet members from Umno will not resign from their posts in August, saying that such calls by leaders were not binding.

The science, technology and innovation minister said he would abide by Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan’s statement which did not specify any particular date, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“It was ‘Taj Mahal’ who mentioned August,” he said referring to Umno election director Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.

“But we only need to heed the secretary-general’s directive,” the Malay daily quoted him as saying.
