PUTRAJAYA: A coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) has sent a memorandum to the government urging it to expedite the implementation of Undi18 and automatic registration of 18-year-olds as voters.
The coalition handed the memorandum to the Election Commission today asking that the policy be implemented by July.
“We are wondering whether the government is serious about implementing Undi18. Parliament passed the Bill in 2019 before the implementation of the movement control order,” Gerakan Belia 4B acting president Fahami Ashrof Badaruddin said after the memorandum was handed over to the EC.
Keilmuan Nasional chairman Zambri Mohd Isa said the implementation of Undi18 should not be delayed to protect the rights of about 1.2 million young voters.
