PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Tony Pua has slammed a top Chinese school for inviting former prime minister Najib Razak to speak at its Johor Bahru branch.

Pua, who is Damansara MP, criticised the school’s board of governors for allowing this to happen.

“The school’s board of governors has set the worst possible example for our children,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said Foon Yew High School, a top Chinese independent school, had invited a “world-renowned kleptocrat”.

Pua said inviting Najib to speak at the school showed the students that “it was acceptable to cheat, lie, steal and abuse power”.

He demanded that the school governors be sacked for “a complete lack of integrity” in failing to set a good example to students.

“Education has always been at the heart of the Chinese community,” he said.

“But if this is the direction the school governors are taking us, then we are on a path to a slow but certain decay and malaise in our culture and dignity.”

Najib is said to have spoken at Foon Yew High School’s Seri Alam branch last Friday and allegedly promoted Barisan Nasional ahead of the March 12 Johor elections.
