PETALING JAYA: An opposition MP has questioned why Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB) chairman Abu Zahar Ujang took nearly one week to hit out at the media over alleged misreporting of his press conference last Wednesday.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said Abu Zahar had also failed to explicitly state which part of his press conference the media had misreported him.
“If the media had truly misreported his press conference, why didn’t Abu Zahar immediately explain the matter on Jan 6 or Jan 7? Why did he need to wait until yesterday?” the DAP MP asked in a statement last night.
Lim also ridiculed Abu Zahar for expressing regret over how six ACAB board members had issued a statement “behind his back” that contradicted his stand.
He said Abu Zahar himself had first made a “unilateral” statement without the agreement of all the ACAB board members at his Jan 5 press conference.
