I had something similar. I'd already updated and reset Bluetooth settings, tested them on other devices, and finally took them in for repair. It turned out my headphones were simply worn out. I was told that most wireless headphones have batteries and communication modules that fail over time. I finally decided to look for new headphones and settled on AirPods.
