Modding culture in early 2000s games

Yeah, that was a golden age for modders. Everything was open, and you could mess around without worrying about getting banned or breaking stuff permanently. CS 1.6 especially had so many options, from silly skins to wild game modes. If you’re looking to play around with mods again, start with a CS 1.6 clean version — it’s way easier to mess with, since it’s the real deal, no weird stuff pre-installed. Last time I did this, I made my own sounds for fun, just like back then. Honestly, nothing beats the feeling of seeing your own stuff in-game.
