Is Mahathir trying to paint a negative picture on the unity gov’t?
#1
[Image: PHOTO-2023-03-16-11-37-29.jpg]

TWO-TIME former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has always been outspoken and has never been afraid to express his opinions even if they shock people or generate conflicts within or outside of the country.

At 98, the Malaysia’s longest-serving prime minister (PM) – a total of 24 years in both stints (from July 1981 to October 2003 and later from May 2018 to March 2020) – the active politician has yet to shed his controversial trademark.

Following his departure from Pejuang which he founded but fared very badly in the recently-concluded 15th General Election (GE15), Dr Mahathir who will soon be helming the Parti  Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (PUTRA) has invited Malays to attend a conference entitled “The Malay Proclamation” this Sunday (March 19) at the Impiana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Full support for Anwar’s zero tolerance policy for racial and religious incitement
[Image: Anwar-Students.jpg]

I FULLY support the 10th Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s policy of zero tolerance for racial and religious incitement to create and prolong political instability and by putting security forces on alert for possible unrest.

Editor’s Note: This comes about as two-time premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be one of the key speakers at the “Malay Proclamation” rally organised by Sekretariat Tanah Air slated for this Sunday (March 19) at the Impiana KLCC hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

The rally will discuss “matters surrounding the plight of the Malays” and “their losing of power in their homeland”, among others.

Malaysia needs a reset to return to the original nation-building principles the nation’s founding fathers have written in the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara (National Principles) – to unite Malaysia’s plural society to restore our national goal to be a first-rate world-class nation with world-class political, economic, educational and social systems.

This is to fulfil Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman’s aspiration to be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world” and to demonstrate to the world Malaysia’s “Unity in Diversity”.

Mahathir’s NEP has crippled Malays, says ex-MP Tawfik
[Image: mahathir-anwar-collage-121122.jpg]

PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad successfully used the New Economic Policy to cripple the Malays into thinking that they would forever need a crutch in order to succeed in competition with others, according to a former MP.

Tawfik Ismail said the NEP as envisioned by Abdul Razak Hussein and Ismail Abdul Rahman (Tawfik’s father) was meant to give a temporary advantage to the Malays, not a prolonged dependence.

Using a golf handicap as an analogy, Tawfik said the NEP was to encourage the Malays to strive towards one day demonstrating better proficiency and skills.

“Mahathir saw the Malays as being handicapped, in what the Malays call ‘cacat’ or permanent disability, requiring lifelong crutches to get by. Also he isn’t a sportsman, and doesn’t know that winning and losing are part of the game of life, and hence he was a sore loser in the game of politics,” he told FMT.

Tawfik, a former Umno member, was MP for Sungai Benut from 1986-1990. He co-founded the Gerak Independent electoral reform group in 2019. The group seeks to be a “third force” at elections.

Anwar calls out Dr M over Malay dominance gripe

SHAH ALAM: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has taken a veiled jab at Dr Mahathir Mohamad saying the latter only complained about Malays losing their dominance after he was no longer in power.

While Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, did not mention the former prime minister by name, he alluded to the time when Mahathir led the government.

“There are people, who had been in power for 22 years and (later) an additional 22 months,” Anwar said of Mahathir’s two stints as prime minister.

“Now that he has lost power he is whining that Malays have lost everything,” he said when officiating the PKR congress here.

It’s a ploy to unseat Anwar, says ex-MP on rise in religious rhetoric

PETALING JAYA: A former MP said the recent increase in religious rhetoric is aimed at unseating Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister, calling it a “ploy for political gain”.

Such rhetoric is also meant to falsely paint the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman as someone who cannot protect Islam and the rights of Malay Muslims, Charles Santiago said.

“The current government isn’t perfect, but Datuk Seri Anwar is a better option (than the opposition).

“So let’s come together as Malaysians to reject the use of religious beliefs to manipulate, control and dominate us through fear,” the former Klang MP said in a statement.

I’ll use all power at my disposal to fight racial agitators: Anwar
[Image: 18032023_-_Presiden_PKR__Datuk_Seri_Anwa...HMAN_1.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today vowed to use everything in his power to fight hard against those who threaten to disturb the country’s peace and harmony.

He said this during a portion of his policy speech at PKR’s special congress today which was directed at foreign diplomats present.

Anwar, who is the party’s president, said while his government acknowledges the special rights of the Malays and Islam, as enshrined in the federal constitution, it would not neglect the interests of other races and religions.

“We will never compromise on our principle that this is a country for all Malaysians, irrespective of race and creed,” he said today.

“If you challenge that, you challenge us. And I will use all the authority and strength at my disposal to fight this madness and insanity.

“Don’t fan racial sentiments. The ones who will suffer are the rakyat, while you scuttle (around) in your private jet.”

From hero to zero: Tun M is paying dearly for his inability to let go, accept Anwar as PM of the day
[Image: Tun-M-Siti-Hasmah.jpg]

THIS IS one or yours truly most difficult prose to pen in his 30-year journalistic career – to see a statesman he most respected self-destruct from a dignified global leader into a villain that threatens to tear Malaysia into shreds along racial dogma.

And most ironical of all, this has to happen at the oddest of time – instead of having longed faded into oblivion from the political scene with only two years to go before he turns a centenarian, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has mooted an uprising. Is he trying to spark a modern day “May 13”?

The “Malay Proclamation” event originally due today (March 19) which is tentatively put on hold or cancelled – depending on how one looks at it – could best mark his biggest tyranny and one that would wipe out his entire legacy of Malaysia’s only two-time premier.

Help woo investors if you love Malaysia, Loke tells Dr M
[Image: f7152875-anthony-loke-siew-fook-fmt-190323-3.jpg]

BUTTERWORTH: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been told by DAP to use his reputation and status as a statesman to lure investors into Malaysia instead of ramping up racial rhetoric.

The party’s secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said that he was disappointed with Mahathir for making racially-charged statements that are unbecoming of a former prime minister and a statesman.

Mahathir recently claimed that Malays were no longer dominating the national politics and economy and that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is incapable of protecting the community’s interests.

“If he loves this country, he should be using his influence to help attract foreign investors, not raising racial sentiments,” he said in a press conference after inaugurating the Penang DAP convention here.

Anwar’s govt an ‘oppressive’ dictatorship, silences critics: Dr Mahathir
[Image: 12112022_-_KUALA_KEDAH_-_Pengerusi_Pejua...TIF_01.JPG]

KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has described Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar’s administration as a dictatorship  and “oppressive”– amidst a slew of legal actions and other purported restrictions taken by government critics and opposition lawmakers.

In a no-holds-barred press conference today, Dr Mahathir called out the purported hypocrisy of the current administration led by Anwar, who in the past often led street protests against policies or actions taken by the Barisan Nasional (BN) led government.

Dr Mahathir then again stressed that the Malays have lost more power under the current administration due to their “multiracial” approach.

“The Malays are the founders of this country yet the government won't allow us to even gather. This is the new government today, a dictator(ship).

Does Tun M have a sinister motive to undermine Anwar’s unity government?

FORMER prime minister (PM) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who laid the groundwork for the infamous Sheraton Move contributed to the collapse of his own Pakatan Harapan (PH) government after a mere 22 months in power.

If he had no qualms of bringing down his own government, then what do you expect him to do with governments that he is not part of it?

“Proklamasi Melayu” was just another attempt from a frustrated leader to undermine the government headed by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He labelled Anwar as the dictator and the person responsible for the alleged cancellation of the two events organised for the “Malay Proclamation” gathering.

Dr Mahathir was expected to be the keynote speaker. A man who used the infamous internal security act (ISA) to detain hundreds of political opponents has the temerity to label Anwar as the dictator.

Even the former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak has weighed in on the matter by saying that Mahathir should be the last person who should be calling others dictators and oppressors. He went on to describe Dr Mahathir’s condemnation of Anwar as a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

It is not whether there is proof or not that Anwar ordered the cancellation of events marked for the declaration on Malays but there is something more sinister behind the move.
