PETALING JAYA: An Umno leader has mocked PAS for “bringing polygamy into politics” by wavering in their decision to cooperate with Umno under Muafakat Nasional.

Nur Jazlan Mohamed, who is Johor Umno deputy chief, claimed that PAS only wanted to enter into relationships with anyone that they could benefit from.

“PAS has brought polygamy into politics and simply wants to reap any benefits they can get.

“They have now perceived Perikatan Nasional (PN) as an ailing coalition — that’s why they say they’re still open to maintaining ties with BN and Umno,” he told FMT.

Yesterday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Muafakat Nasional (MN), the party’s pact with Umno, would be re-evaluated after the Johor elections on March 12.

Muafakat Nasional remains intact unless Umno says otherwise, says Tuan Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: Muafakat Nasional (MN) remains intact unless Umno declares the dissolution of the alliance, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said while Umno leaders, such as president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had been at odds with PAS, there had been no official declaration that the pact was over.
“So long as there remains some life to the alliance, it will continue to be in place,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.

“For the situation to change, Umno has to declare MN is dissolved. However, this has not happened.”
