The 4 vitamin and supplements this immunologist takes every day to strengthen her immune system: ‘Your body will thank you’

In a perfect world, we’d all have access to a balanced, nutrient-dense diet that’s chock-full of healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, adequate protein and fiber — and theoretically, shouldn’t have to take additional vitamin supplements in order to strengthen our immune system.

However, not only do most of us fail to hit these daily nutrition goals, but we may have situations — like physical stress or inflammatory health issues — when we need more of certain nutrients than what we’re getting from food.

As an immunologist and functional medicine doctor, I always say that you cannot supplement yourself out of bad health or replace a poor diet with vitamins, but you can fill in the gaps to give yourself that extra leg up.

I find it’s a great addition to my routine, especially when I need that extra protein boost without the heaviness of regular whey. It’s easier to digest and has been a game-changer for my energy levels. Thanks for sharing your insights—definitely going to try adding some of these vitamins to my daily regimen!

I totally agree with you that ideally, we’d all get everything we need from food, but it’s just not always realistic with busy lives. I’ve personally started using organic goat whey protein in my routine, and I’ve noticed a pretty big difference in how I feel, especially with energy levels and muscle recovery. It’s gentler on the stomach than regular whey too, which has been a game changer for me. That said, I definitely don’t think it should replace a balanced diet, just help bridge the gap when needed. It’s interesting to hear what others are taking too!
