Revive plan to stop child marriages, urge women’s groups - superadmin - 10-19-2021 PETALING JAYA: The government needs to revive the national plan on child marriage launched by the Pakatan Harapan administration to put a stop to underage marriages, said women NGOs. Sisters in Islam (SIS) said since the change of government in February 2020, there had been no clear indication if the women, family and community development ministry would implement the national strategic plan in handling child marriage and its causes. “The government must revisit and act on the plan which was launched in January last year,” a SIS spokesperson told FMT. The national plan was set up to address six main causes of underage marriage in the country. - More -
