Need Help Removing an Old Retaining Wall and Deck - journe - 06-30-2025
I’ve got an aging wood deck and a retaining wall that’s been slowly collapsing. Both were already in rough shape when we moved in. Now we want to rip it all out and start over. Should I hire demolition pros or is it a reasonable DIY job? I’m decent with tools but not sure about the scope.

Tearing out landscape elements can be trickier than expected. We thought we could handle our old stone wall ourselves, but hitting buried rebar changed our minds fast. We hired professional landscape demolition services - oakshs.ca to get the job done. They had the right machinery and took care of everything in under two days — including hauling away all the rubble. No damage to nearby plants or underground lines, which I really appreciated. It also cleared the way faster than we could’ve managed, so our rebuild project didn’t get delayed. Honestly, it saved us a lot of stress and sore backs.
