PETALING JAYA: Several PKR division leaders have criticised Rafizi Ramli’s call to delegates at the coming party congress to vote in only certain candidates to the central leadership council, with one of them describing it as “insane”. Yahya Mat Shari, the Tanjong Karang division chief, said as the incoming deputy president, Rafizi should be a leader for all, including those who were not aligned with him. Yahya is among 70 members vying for positions in the council for the 2022-2025 term. The elections will be held this Saturday. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-14-2022 PKR must resolve internal strife or face another crisis, says analyst
PETALING JAYA: All eyes will be on the PKR congress tomorrow as the party seeks to quell dissatisfaction stemming from the recent party polls. If not handled properly, it could spark a crisis like the one it experienced in 2018, said political analyst Sivamurugan Pandian of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). That crisis was also related to party elections. Sivamurugan said PKR needed to sort out problems related to the recent polls or risk something similar to the “Sheraton Move” in 2020, which saw Barisan Nasional, Bersatu, PAS, and a PKR faction led by Azmin Ali joining forces to topple the Pakatan Harapan government. Allegations of electoral fraud, such as claims of result discrepancies and of phantom votes being cast, have marred the party polls and forced PKR to postpone the congress until the completion of a forensic audit. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-16-2022 PKR Youth leaders say Rafizi has strong support
SHAH ALAM: While incoming PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli is seen as a divisive figure by some observers, he can seemingly do no wrong with PKR Youth.
Rafizi created headlines when he announced his return to active politics in March after a two-year hiatus, but his brash and outspoken style has appeared to have caused divisions within the party. However, it seems that sentiment isn’t shared by members of the party’s youth wing.
When asked whether Rafizi’s various comments had caused a split in PKR Youth, the wing’s newly-elected chief, Adam Adli, told FMT that he considered such comments “not as differences in principle but differences in approach”. - More -
RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-17-2022 Incoming, outgoing PKR leaders will speak, says Anwar on schedule change
SHAH ALAM – An eleventh-hour change will now see all incoming and outgoing PKR top-office bearers deliver speeches at the last day of the PKR national congress today. Party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed to The Vibes that all 13 former and new postholders will now address the delegates. This comes after deputy president Rafizi Ramli and other newly elected leaders were apparently dropped from the line-up after initially being scheduled to speak. “All 13 speakers will be talking today, both outgoing and incoming,” Anwar said briefly at the Ideal Convention Centre here. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-17-2022 New PKR team ‘better, free from traitors’, says leader
SHAH ALAM: PKR has confirmed its new leadership line-up for the 2022-2025 term with a balanced group of leaders seen to be aligned to both party president Anwar Ibrahim and his new deputy, Rafizi Ramli.
“This is a line-up that will build a better PKR. The party will be free from traitors who were once in the party,” deputy elections committee chairman Saiful Izham Ramli said after announcing the winners. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-17-2022 I’m vocal, but I’m certainly no Azmin: Rafizi
SHAH ALAM – Despite his outspokenness, newly minted PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli assured the party that he would never betray its leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The former Pandan MP also said he does not have a knack for sweet-talking and can be vocal and harsh in his criticisms, but he is nothing like former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali. “I want to say this to Anwar. I may be ‘lantang’ (vocal), but I am no Azmin Ali. “I have already proven to you (delegates) that I am not interested in any ministerial posts or other positions,” he said during his winding-up speech at the PKR national congress held in the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), here, this afternoon. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-20-2022 PKR can emulate DAP in ensuring representation at the top, says Fahmi
PETALING JAYA: PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil has urged his party to emulate DAP in ensuring diversity at its top leadership, including having representatives from the Indian community and from Sabah and Sarawak.
The Lembah Pantai MP said although he respected the right of PKR delegates to choose their top leadership, the party could reserve a quota for leaders from various communities. He was commenting on the multiracial party’s new central leadership council (MPP) which does not feature any Indian, Sabahan or Sarawakian leader.
Fahmi said some had proposed a DAP-like quota system. The party reserves 30% of seats on its Central Executive Committee for women leaders. - More -

PETALING JAYA: Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has been retained as PKR’s secretary-general, while Fahmi Fadzil was named as the party’s information chief. Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, has been appointed a vice-president in the party. Putatan MP Awang Suhaini Sahari and K Saraswathy were also appointed vice-presidents. Selayang MP William Leong was appointed treasurer. Meanwhile, PKR Titiwangsa branch chief Zahir Hassan has been appointed as PKR chief organising secretary. - More - RE: More than 8,000 vie for PKR branch posts - superadmin - 07-22-2022 Nurul Izzah’s pick as PKR vice-president a compromise move, says analyst
PETALING JAYA: A political analyst has labelled Nurul Izzah Anwar’s appointment as one of PKR vice-presidents a “compromise” to prevent any rifts from widening following the party’s recent contentious polls.
Azmi Hassan of Akademi Nusantara believes that this “compromise” was reached between party president Anwar Ibrahim and his newly elected deputy, Rafizi Ramli. Nurul Izzah is said to be aligned to Rafizi, who had defeated Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the former federal minister said to be in Anwar’s camp.
Saifuddin was reappointed as the party’s secretary-general. Azmi said he believes the appointments of Nurul Izzah and Saifuddin were aimed at appeasing the members who were split into two factions. - More -
