GE15: ‘PKR, DAP, Amanah the true traitors, not Sheraton movers’
[Image: 07112022_-_Interview_Zuraida_Kamaruddin_..._NAFIS.jpg]

AMPANG – Sick and tired of being labelled a traitor, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin has shared her version of events that unfolded behind the scenes leading to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration’s eventual toppling in February 2020.

Now with Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), she trained her finger back at PKR, DAP, and Amanah, whom she blamed for the rise of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government then.

The PH component parties, she said, are the true traitors.

Recollecting, Zuraida told The Vibes that when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister on February 24, 2020, following internal bickering, PH had later agreed to back the nonagenarian for his return to the top post.

GE15: local govt polls, enforced disappearances on K.J. John’s election agenda
[Image: 16122021_-_KL_-_Gerak_Independent%60s_Ap...HMAN_2.JPG]

KUALA LUMPUR – Local government elections and querying on enforced disappearances in the Dewan Rakyat are among key agendas for Gerak Independent candidate K.J. John.

In a statement today, the Petaling Jaya parliamentary candidate who released his manifesto said that he aims to be a voice for constituents, rather than any party or its symbol.

“You never vote a party into Parliament; it is always one good character individual who is a citizen that you vote into Parliament.

“The parties only become a symbol for voting or logo for voting, but they never actually represent you in Parliament. Do they?”

Selangor MB declares state holiday on Nov 18
[Image: AMIRUDIN_SHARI_MB_SELANGOR_FMT_05052021-61.jpg]

SHAH ALAM: Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari has declared that Nov 18 will be a state holiday, in view of polling day for the general election.

At a press conference, Amirudin said the decision was made as there were many Malaysians working and residing in Selangor, but voted in their hometowns in other states.

He urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to declare Nov 18 a public holiday nationwide for all Malaysians to make it easier for them to cast their ballots on Nov 19.

GE15: alleged sabotage at eleventh hour emboldens Tawfik Ismail’s Bagan Datuk bid
[Image: 09112022_-_Gerak_Independent_candidate_-...Omar_3.JPG]

BAGAN DATUK – Gerak Independent co-founder Tawfik Ismail’s candidacy for the Bagan Datuk parliamentary constituency was almost dashed after he was allegedly sabotaged on nomination day.

Tawfik claims that the proposer for his nomination, a local Bagan Datuk resident, had disappeared 30 minutes before nomination papers were due to be submitted by 10am.

The former lawmaker and his group had arrived at the Bagan Datuk nomination centre along with the proposer and seconder at 9am.

However, while waiting in the queue as the Election Commission personnel were processing the other candidates, Tawfik’s proposer said he had to excuse himself to the bathroom.

“But he never came back. When we called him, he gave all sorts of excuses and then simply switched off his phone,” said Tawfik.

GE15: could Zahid become first Umno president to lose his seat?
[Image: 18032022_-_Zahid_Hamidi_-_SYEDA_IMRAN-23.JPG]

BAGAN DATUK – Five-term MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s run for his hometown parliamentary constituency could come to an end, given various factors brewing since the last term.

The seat has always been depicted as “Umno’s fortress” and had supposedly benefited greatly from Zahid’s tenure in government.

However, at present, there are external and internal forces working against Zahid, who had only won the seat with a 5,072 vote majority in the last election.

Majority vote gap closing

In 2018, part of Zahid’s victory was due to the Hutan Melintang army camp, which contributed roughly 2,000 votes.

The army camp was built during Zahid’s tenure as defence minister and had been the subject of controversy given its location, which was alleged to benefit Barisan Nasional’s (BN) vote bank in the past.

Despite Zahid reportedly denying the allegations – justifying the construction’s location as strategic between the army facility in Sg Buloh, Selangor and the navy base in Lumut, Perak – the camp was subsequently closed after Pakatan Harapan (PH) took over the federal administration.

GE15: Pakatan willing to cancel Ramanan’s Sg Buloh run if proof of graft shown, says Anwar
[Image: 07112022_-_Datuk_Seri_Anwar_Ibrahim_hadi...HMAN_4.jpg]

KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan is willing to cancel the candidacy of its Sg Buloh candidate Datuk R. Ramanan if there was evidence that he had broken the law and was involved in graft, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

According to Berita Harian, the opposition leader, however, said that there has yet to be any proof or factual evidence that Ramanan was involved in these activities.

“Any accusation must be accompanied by solid proof and facts. I have vetted all our (PH) candidates with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and police to the best of my abilities.

“The perception that people may have (on Ramanan) is different. Recently, there were people who said I am an Israeli agent, we cannot support Anwar because he is LGBT, or an American agent, and a lot of other agents.”

EC heeds Tun M’s proposal: No mobile phones at polling stations
[Image: No-mobile-phone-sign.jpg]

GERAKAN Tanah Air (GTA) coalition chairman and twice prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad got his wish come true in the run-up to the 15th General Election (GE15) with the Election Commission (EC) resorting to ban the use of mobile phones inside polling stations.

In a recent infographic uploaded on social media, the EC listed down 10 steps for voters to observe on polling day slated for Nov 19 (Saturday).

In the sixth step, voters are required to surrender their mobile phones to the presiding officer after having completed their verification, dipping their finger in indelible ink and collecting their ballot paper.

Love for Khairy, hatred of BN cause indecision in Sungai Buloh
[Image: khairy-jamaluddin-bn-fb-101122.jpg]

SUNGAI BULOH: With just about a week to go before GE15, some voters in Sungai Buloh who don’t like Barisan Nasional appear to be in a dilemma because they are fans of BN candidate Khairy Jamaluddin.

One voter, Mohd Zaidi, 33, said Khairy had the potential to win as he’s a celebrity of sorts and that he would consider voting for him.

“But we don’t like his leader,” he told FMT in reference to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. “If Zahid gets more vocal as polling day approaches, I may not vote for Khairy.

Zaidi said some voters would hold on to Khairy’s words that a vote for him would be a vote for Ismail Sabri Yaakob to continue as prime minister. He said voters would feel betrayed if BN won and someone else was appointed prime minister.

GE15: PAS could control five states after polls, says Sanusi
[Image: 20221109_-_Sanusi_Md_Nor_MB_Kedah_on_nov...TIF_05.JPG]

ALOR STAR – PAS has expressed optimism that it could govern up to five states in the general election on November 19.
Its elections director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said that besides the three states it currently governs – Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah – PAS may perform well enough to name menteri besars for Pahang and Perlis.

Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah will likely have their respective state elections next year while Pahang and Perlis have already disbanded their state assemblies in line with the dissolution of Parliament last month.

In Pahang, under the stewardship of party deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, the party is contesting 24 out of the 42 state seats and – based on the present assessment – Sanusi said Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) campaign was gaining momentum.

GE15: Amirudin pledges to donate MP salary to Gombak if he wins
[Image: 20221110_amirudin_shari_AMAR_SHAH_MOHSEN.jpeg]

AMPANG – Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has vowed to donate his entire MP salary to uplift the constituency if he secures victory in the 15th general election (GE15).

The Selangor menteri besar said this is if he remains as an assemblyman and has a position in the state government.

He said his MP salary will be donated to a new Dana Komuniti Gombak (Gombak Community Fund) which he will set up if he becomes a federal lawmaker.

The fund, he said, will then be used to improve local infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of Gombak’s constituents.

“Dana Komuniti Gombak is an initiative to which I will contribute my salary as an MP... I will also invite the private and public sectors to contribute to the fund,” he said during the launch of his Gombak manifesto here today.
