800 acres of gov’t land opened for B40 agriculture under the IPR initiative

ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli said the government’s people’s income initiative (IPR) to be launched tomorrow (Feb 26), will ensure a stable food supply and low prices that can be enjoyed by various layers of society.

As part of this initiative, the government will open up 800 acres of government land for agricultural purposes, providing opportunities for capital support and training.

The IPR aims to help the poor increase their income potential and improve their household earning capacity, Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said during his Budget 2023 presentation.

“Major agricultural commodities such as palm oil which have given export value with encouraging results will be infused with new agricultural products to ensure that the agricultural sector provides sustainable input towards National Food Security,” said Rafizi in a statement.

Derailing Anwar’s fight against corruption akin to betraying nation: Patriot

KUALA LUMPUR – Retired servicemen group National Patriot Association (Patriot) has lauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s fight against systematic corruption, urging all Malaysians, regardless of their political affiliation, to throw their support behind Anwar’s “determined efforts”.

Pointing to Anwar’s order for authorities to continue investigating those named in the 2021 Pandora Papers exposé, Patriot president Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji said that Malaysians have a “patriotic will” to bring high-profile and corrupt individuals to light.

“The time has finally come for all such individuals who had benefited from being close associates and cronies of our past political masters, or are politicians still in power, to now face the full brunt of the law.

“Viva Malaysia. The war has begun. It is time to enlist ourselves to join the prime minister in this mother of all battles.

Economists laud Anwar’s ‘strong’ Budget 2023
Posted by: superadmin - 02-25-2023, 09:23 AM - Forum: Business. Economy and Investment - Replies (1)

KUALA LUMPUR – Economic and financial observers have hailed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Budget 2023 announcement as a “strong start” that will help address the cost of living, especially for those in the B40 and M40 groups, while reviving the nation’s economy.

Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, the group chief executive of AMMB Holdings Bhd, said the proposed budget will help improve domestic economic prospects given the higher allocation of RM97 billion for development expenditure.

He said in tandem, the fiscal deficit is projected to narrow to 5.0% of the country’s gross domestic product, which demonstrates the government’s financial prudence in managing the economy.

“At AmBank, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the bedrock of our customer base and we are encouraged by the government’s efforts to support this crucial pillar of our economy – specifically as a result of the RM10 billion loan funds to be provided by Bank Negara Malaysia to ease the financial burden of SMEs as well as Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan to provide a guarantee of up to RM20 billion, focusing on sectors such as high technology, agriculture, and manufacturing,” Sulaiman said in a statement.

“This will certainly empower local SMEs.”

Kit Siang sceptical of “Green Tsunami” recurring in upcoming state polls
Posted by: superadmin - 02-24-2023, 02:58 PM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

TODAY, Prime Minister-cum-Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be presenting his Budget 2023 which will be another mini-test of the survivability and stability of the Anwar unity government.

But a major test will be in the second 100 days of the Anwar unity government when the six states, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Teregganu dissolve their respective state assemblies at end-June for state polls to be held.

Will there be another triumph of the “green wave” phenomenon which is supposed to be a special characteristic of the 15th parliamentary General Election (GE15) in these six states?

Foreign parents have faith in Malaysia’s independent Chinese schools
Posted by: superadmin - 02-24-2023, 11:53 AM - Forum: Educations - Replies (2)

A MERE 694 or 0.87% out of a total enrollment of 79,700 in 2022 may seem like a pathetic figure although that speaks volume of faith that foreign parents have in Malaysia’s independent Chinese schools which are grappling with the reluctance of the government to recognise their Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

Recall that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek had recently remarked in the Dewan Rakyat that the unity government is still not ready to recognise the UEC nor provide allocation for independent Chinese secondary schools only for mainstream Chinese-language daily Sin Chew Daily to berate her ‘inexperience’.

Even against such backdrop of uncertainty, parents who know how to treasure the high standard of education – and not forgetting discipline – at Malaysian independent Chinese schools have no qualm whatsoever to enroll their children there.

Yesterday (Feb 23), Dong Zong or the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia president Tan Tai Kim told Sin Chew Daily that there are currently 694 foreign students studying at 63 indepen

  “It’s elementary, my dear Mahathir!”

Letter to Editor

I FEEL compelled to respond to Federal Territories’ Perikatan Nasional (PN) information chief Mahathir Mohd Rais’ letter to the editor which accused the present government of going on a witch hunt.

A newbie himself, he appears to be totally out of sync with what his voters have wanted to see: corruption being dealt with severely.

Business people, especially those who are not well connected, find it difficult to pitch for government jobs without paying a bribe, especially when the projects are given to people within a certain circle.

In fact, those against corruption are in the majority. Therefore, how can Mahathir claim that “many” are against the witch hunt that he accused the unity government of doing?

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has shown his resolve to deal with corruption, and in no uncertain terms, he said, “Investigate, including those in PKR.”

“Pakatan has sown the seeds of Islamophobia in the country,” claims PAS man
Posted by: superadmin - 02-24-2023, 09:57 AM - Forum: Politics - No Replies

[Image: Senator-Dato-Ahmad-Yahaya-2-HarakahDaily.jpeg]

PAKATAN Harapan’s (PH) reaction to the procession of PAS members bearing replicas of medieval weapons and armour in Terengganu recently has inadvertently planted the seeds of Islamophobia in the country, claimed PAS Dewan Ulama chief Datuk Ahmad Yahaya.

The Pokok Sena MP was referring to the militia-styled cosplay parade during the Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu or “Himpit” in Setiu, Terengganu last Friday, which saw Terengganu PAS Youth members clad in medieval Islamic war costumes and armed with fake swords, spears and shields.

“The issue seems to have been exaggerated without any good reason. When examined in its entirety, this programme is merely an Islamic-heritage-themed parade,” he said in a statement yesterday via PAS mouthpiece HarakahDaily.

“There is nothing about the intention nor behaviour [of those who took part in the parade] that can be associated with any form of criminal behaviour nor were they threatening public order.
