This may caused by a file system error. You can use Disk Utility to repair the file system.
- Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).
- Select your hard drive (usually Macintosh HD), then click the “First Aid” button.
- Confirm to run First Aid and wait for the scan and repair process to complete.
- Once the repair is finished, restart your Mac and check if the issue is resolved.
Local snapshots may be occupying space. Local snapshots are stored on your hard drive and take up actual storage space. As the number of snapshots increases, they may still occupy space even if you delete other files. You can follow these steps to delete local snapshots:
- Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities).
- Enter the command tmutil listlocalsnapshots / and press Enter.
- If snapshots are listed, you can use the command tmutil deletelocalsnapshots (for example: tmutil deletelocalsnapshots 2024-10-12-123456 ) to delete specific snapshots.
- Repeat step 3 until there are no more unwanted snapshots. After completing this, restart your Mac.

To manually Import Apple Mail to Thunderbird, start by exporting your Apple Mail emails in the MBOX format. Open Apple Mail, select the mailbox you want to export, and choose "Export Mailbox" from the File menu. Save the MBOX file to a preferred location. Browse and select the exported MBOX file from Apple Mail. Your emails will now appear in Thunderbird.
However, manual migration comes with challenges. The process can be time-consuming and requires technical knowledge, especially when handling large mailboxes. In some cases, compatibility issues arise, and email metadata like attachments or timestamps might not be preserved. Additionally, errors during import can lead to data loss or incomplete migration.
For a seamless and efficient solution, consider using the Migrate Cloud Data MBOX Converter Tool. This tool simplifies the process by directly converting Apple Mail files into Thunderbird-compatible format. It ensures no data loss, preserves all email attributes, and can handle bulk conversions efficiently. With its user-friendly interface, even non-technical users can migrate their data quickly and accurately, saving time and effort.
