KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has initiated a probe into the contentious deal involving the takeover of a Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s subsidiary that manages the Kuala Lumpur Tower.
The Malaysian Insight quoted its chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as confirming the matter but stopped short of revealing further details on the investigation.
“Yes, MACC has opened investigation papers,” he said, according to the media report.
This follows a viral social media post earlier this week by Twitter user @FreeMsian highlighting the controversial full ownership transfer of the iconic tower by Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB) to a firm named Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd.
