Dr Mahathir to lead new concept based on Malay, Islamic agenda
PUTRAJAYA – A new concept based on the Malay and Islamic agenda led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be established.
At a “solat hajat” and “doa selamat” prayer ceremony here last night, Dr Mahathir, who is also Pejuang chairman, hinted at the establishment of the idea in an effort to reunite the Malays in the struggle to defend Malaysia.
“This is a Malay-Muslim group. The move is necessary if we want to save our country, our nation, our religion,” he said.
Multiracial approach needed, says Anwar after Dr M launches Malay-only coalition
PETALING JAYA: Anwar Ibrahim has said he will not back a new Malay-only coalition set up by his former mentor, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as a more multiracial approach is needed to resolve the country’s woes.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby, Anwar said the country needed good leadership comprising all Malaysians and not just Malays to ensure good governance.
The opposition leader said while the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition would not split the Malays, the community should not pin their hopes on the same personalities who had caused them the hardship they were currently facing.
“For Malays enduring a tough time, including being in poverty or having their land taken away from them, don’t pin your hopes on the same person who did not defend you.

“Malaysia has more to gain by not agitating sensitive China, dragging it into our own racial squabbles”
I DON’T go to malls often but unlike Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, I have never felt that any of the malls I go to had a “Are we in China” vibe that the twice former premier claimed the mall he visited had.
In a recent post on the X platform, Dr Mahathir said he felt like he was in China after he visited one of the new shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur over the past weekend, alluding to the fact that ”all the signboards are in Chinese with English translations”.
As far as I am aware, malls in KL today give pretty the same vibe that they have been giving for the last 20-30 years.

Dr M joins hands with Bersatu, PAS to unite the Malay community
FORMER prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has announced the formation of a movement to unite the Malay community under a single umbrella.
This follows a meeting with several political leaders, including from Perikatan Nasional and PAS to discuss the 'big umbrella' secretariat.
Dr Mahathir said the movement is not politically motivated and will serve as a platform to resolve issues faced by Malays.
"It is a collective response to the growing challenges faced by Malays in the country.
"From our meeting with Bersatu and Pas, we believe the Malay community has problems," he said.
He said there are many problems faced by the Malays that can only be overcome if the government is controlled by Malays.

Dr Mahathir’s grand Malay umbrella bid ‘desperate and provocative’
A PROPOSAL by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to unite all Malay-based parties under a single ‘umbrella’ has been dismissed as “desperate and provocative” by Sungai Petani MP Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari.
Taufiq, who is also Vice Chief of the national youth wing of the ruling Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), criticised the initiative as a thinly veiled attempt to revive old racial narratives in the absence of substantive policy ideas from the opposition.
“Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man must know that Dr M’s proposal for all Malay-based parties to come under a single, broad group is a desperate and provocative move,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday, referring to the PAS deputy president who had expressed support for Mahathir’s call.

Malays want political stability, not just racial sentiment, says analyst
PETALING JAYA: Unity based solely on Malay sentiment is no longer the single determining factor in garnering Malay political support, says political analyst Hisomuddin Bakar.
He said Malays also look at governance, including effective management of the economy, administrative integrity and policies that have a direct impact on people’s daily lives.
“It’s more about everyday realities than nationalist rhetoric. Political stability has become a priority,” said Hisomuddin, who is executive director of Ilham Centre. “Voters are feeling the fatigue created by internal party conflicts, party-hopping and frequent changes in government,” he told FMT.

Race, national identity, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malays
From Moaz Nair
Malays do not need to be under a “big umbrella” to achieve economic progress in the country. Only hard work, honesty and a positive mindset pay.
Times have changed and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s big umbrella non-political concept, as he defined it, to unite the Malays is nothing more than a hidden political agenda criticised by the Malay political leaders themselves.
Malays are already well represented at all levels of the country’s administration since the country’s independence.
