KUALA LUMPUR – Lee Zii Jia makes it into the quarterfinals of the Indonesian Open after taking down India’s Sameer Verma 21-10, 21-13 in Jakarta today.
As the first match of the day, the Indonesian crowd cheered Zii Jia on as he led the entire first set to make easy work of the Indian, winning it with an 11-point gap.
Verma kept making it a closer battle in the second set, but he was no match for the world number five as Zii Jia closed out the match in 40 minutes.
Zii Jia will either face Frenchman Toma Junior Popov or neighbour Loh Kean Yew from Singapore tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
