PETALING JAYA: A group of youths gathered at Dataran Merdeka today to protest against the Perikatan National (PN) government’s management of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Around 40 people were seen waving 14 black flags and carrying a banner with the hashtag #KeluarDanLawan (Come out and fight), while standing in front of several fake “bodies”.

A representative of Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat, the organiser of the event, said the protest went on for 40 minutes.

Police arrived as the protesters were in the middle of reading out their statement.

In the statement, the group said the “bodies” symbolised the increasing number of Covid-19 deaths and suicide cases.

It added that the black flags were raised as a sign of the people’s anger in every state, following the popular use of hashtags such as #Lawan and #KerajaanGagal on social media.

“This shows that the people are tired and angry at the egotistical attitude of the PN government, which refuses to resign,” it said.
