BATU PAHAT: Former federal minister and Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin came out tops at the Johor DAP convention today, winning 631 votes.

Johor DAP deputy chairman Teo Nie Ching came in second with 577 votes, followed by state DAP chief Liew Chin Tong, with 561 votes.

Teo and Liew are also former deputy ministers.

Meanwhile, Johor DAP secretary Tan Hong Pin is unlikely to keep his place in the state’s 15-member executive committee after managing to obtain only 485 votes.

However, his ally, Boo Cheng Hau, who is the former state chairman, took the 14th spot after winning 495 votes.

Vice-chairman S Ramakrishnan, meanwhile, was reappointed to the post. He managed to secure 479 votes.

The election today saw three candidates withdraw from the race, namely Lim Yit Tao, Mahdzir Ibrahim and Yap Chee Meng.
